A surreal, coming-of-age story about a 12-year-old boy named Naota whose boring life is upended by the chaotic arrival of a woman named Haruko. The manga uses bizarre and exaggerated events, like robots emerging from Naota's head after Haruko hits it with her guitar, to symbolize his emotional struggles and transition from childhood to adulthood. At its core, FLCL is about authenticity, identity, and grappling with the confusing emotions of adolescence.
